Until 2015, Africa was the only region of the world without an independent, democratic, representative, regional disability forum of member Disabled Persons’ Organizations (DPOs). Today, thanks to the support of UNPRPD, the African Disability Forum (ADF) has been established and recognized as the representative Pan-African umbrella membership organization of African DPOs. The ADF was established to unify and amplify the voice of persons with disabilities, their families and organizations in Africa at national, regional and international levels, and to strengthen the capacity of organizations of persons with disabilities in Africa to promote the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities and their families.
